Skywatch Friday

Vancouver skies have been fun to watch these first ten days of May.

In the early evening of May 1st, as I walked along Sunset Beach, a warm glow from the sky was reflected in the ocean.
On May 4th, in David Lam Park, it seemed the high-rises could lean back and rest against the cumulus clouds.
I took these pictures from the False Creek Ferry as we crossed over to Granville Island.
I had never noticed how much the Granville Bridge curves.
Looking in the opposite direction, the clouds were much less dramatic.  More like wisps. Perfect for seagull shots.
On May 5th, a few hours before Supermoon was high in the sky, there was again a warm glow, this time lighting up the high-rises and reflected in False Creek.  (My previous post has a couple of pictures of the moon.)
On May 8th, walking towards the Cambie Bridge, I tried this sort of "artsy" shot, capturing three different layers of sky over the mountains.
Yesterday (May 9th), driving to the Surrey/White Rock area to spend a wonderful day with fellow blogger of the site, Penelope Puddlisms, there were again blue skies offset by layers of what I think may be called Stratus clouds.  We call these "truck shots" since I snap the...
photos through the window as we drive.
At Crescent Beach, this handsome Bald Eagle flew with a right wing framed by blue sky, and the left moving in front of a grey cloud.
This seagull sat on a lamp, confident that it looked its best against a solid blue background.
On the way home, I took another truck shot to capture a blue hole in the clouds.
It seems that everywhere we looked, there were varied and interesting skies to contemplate.  This was taken as we drove over the Alex Fraser Bridge towards Richmond.
Thank you so much for stopping by.  For other sky photos from across the world, check out Skywatch Friday.

  3. I never would have thought that seagull we saw so high up on the lamp could have turned out so fabulously close. The skies were so interesting this week with a nice mix of clouds. In this series, however, I am mesmerized by the golden glow of the moon over the cityscape and water!
